INCA-National Map Quiz

The INCA (Indian National Cartographers Association) established in 1979 by the Department of Geography, Osmania University, and the Survey of India, is conducting its annual map quiz programme for school children, “INCA-National Map Quiz”. The quiz consists of both indoor and outdoor map reading exercises. The aim of conducting the quiz is to create awareness among the student community especially at school levels. This is in line with the increasing importance and necessity of Geographical/Spatial information in all walks of life.

The INCA-National Map Quiz will be conducted at two levels – Preliminary and Final. The main concept in setting quiz questions shall be to test the ability of students in reading and understanding of various types of information appearing on maps, charts, aerial photographs and imageries of various kinds.

In this regard, INCA has scheduled a workshop for teachers to brief about the quiz and its modalities on July 7, 2019 between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm at Mahboob College High School, RP Road, Secunderabad. The preliminary round of the quiz will be held between July 15, 2019 and July 25, 2019. The national finals will be held on July 25, 2019.

The INCA is devoted to the cause of cartography as a graphic mode of communication. The aim of the association is to foster cartographic research in the country, co-operate with professional organizations of cognate disciplines and to promote academic interaction within an inter-disciplinary frame, and improve the teaching of cartography at all.
